Present

My paintings are a response to my being alive in a particular time and place. They are painted from within the Tasmanian landscape. They are not a direct representation of the landscape but rather a response to the performative power of the place in which I live. Robert Rauschenberg put this simply when he said: ‘every time I’ve moved, my work has changed radically’. My paintings are an expression of my Being. They are traces or imprints of my movements, of my life’s actions. They come about as a result of my being in the environment, as a part of it.
