Topiary Arch Tree, Midlands Hwy
A series of topiary trees lines the Midlands Highway near Oatlands. They were created from 1964 and continue to delight travellers. As a child a great cause for excitement was spotting and identifying them as I sat in the back seat of the car with tartan rugs and sticky lollies. I now see snapshots of these trees through an artist’s sensibility. The painting presents the notion of a connection between childhood and adulthood.
